Kenya boxing team results at the 1997 world championships

The 2003 world boxing championships were held in Budapest, Hungary from October 18 to October 26 1997. All four Kenyan boxers lost their opening bouts. Kenya thus left the tournament with no win to their name.

Tom Waruinge: Light Flyweight
Round 1: Lost to Liborio Romero of Mexico 7-2

Peter Kusimba: Lightweight
Round 1: Lost to Artyom Simonyan of Armenia

George Maina: Welterweight
Round 1: Lost to Jahii Skender of Macedonia (disqualified)

David Miriambo Anyim: Super Heavyweight
Round 1: Lost to Ahmed Abdel Samad of Egypt 4-2

Russia were the overall winners with fourgold medals. Cuba finished second, with three gold medals.
