Liverpool FC of Mombasa

1n 1958, Liverpool FC of Mombasa won the FA cup which at the time was the most prestigious cup in Kenya.It was the second time Liverpool had won the FA cup. They won the first ever FA cup in 1956.

Liverpool was established by Kenyans of Asian descent, primarily Indian and Pakistani. Many of their players were Indian and Pakistani, especially Goans who were very active in tje Kenyan sporting scene in the 1950s and 1960s, producing great athletes like Seraphino Antao.

Liverpool had the great Albert Castana, Kenya’s first great goalkeeper. They remained among Kenya’s top teams until the late 1970s, during which they produced another great goalkeeper , Mahmoud Abbas, popularly known as Kenya-one. By then Liverpool had been renamed Mwenge FC.
