Kenya Boxing Team Results at the 1987 Kings Cup

Back in the 1970s and 1980s, the Kings cup was one of the premier global boxing tournaments and it featured the best boxers from across the globe. In 1987, Kenya sent a squad of three boxers.

Daniel Mwangi: Flyweight
Round 1: Beat Prakob Thamma of Thailand on points
Quarter-Final: Won against an unkown opponent on points
Semi-Final: Lost to Kwang Hyun-Han of Korea on points

David Gakuha: Featherweight
Round 1: Beat Kim Keun-Heung of Korea on points
Quarter-Final: Lost to Alexandr Artemiev of the USSR on points

Martin “Nyoka” Ojwang: Middleweight
Quarter-Final: Beat Syed Hussain Shah of Pakistan on points
Semi-Final: Lost to Oleg Zabolotskikh of Russia on points
