Kenya Football in 1973

Abaluhya FC won the Kenya National Football League in 1973 and also won the Nairobi provincial title

In November 1973, the Kenya Football League was formed with Kenneth Matiba as Chairman and Chris Obure as Seceretary General. Most of the club supported the formation of the new league as they were dissatisfied with the F.A which was led by Williams Ngaah as Chairman and Lan Situma as Secretary General. The clubs that refused to join Kenya Football league were Abaluhya FC, Abeingo and Western Stars.

Minister Masinde Muliro, whose portfolio included Sports also opposed the move noting that Mr. Matiba had demanded elections which were held in June 1973. However Matiba was barred from running. The impasse continued until January of 1974
