Kenya Boxing Team Results at the 1965 All African games

The 1965 All Africa games were held in Brazzaville, Congo. In the boxing tournament, Kenya finished second overall with two gold medals and two silver medals.

The first gold medal came via Philip Waruinge who won gold in the feathwerweight division after beating Ihan ben Hassan of Tunisia in the finals. It was the first of Waruinge’s numerous international medals. He would end up becoming Kenya’s most decorated boxer when he left the amateaur scene in 1972.

The second gold medal came via Light-Welterweight John Olulu who beat Lakhdar Ben Ahmed of Tunisia in the final.

The silver medals came from Light Middleweight Saydi and Middleweight Mathias Ouma.
