AFC end Chemelil jinx

Ingwe finally ended their jinx against the tough sugar millers side when Charles Okwemba scored the only goal in James Nandwa’s first game in charge at Afraha stadium.

AFC Leopards’ celebrated wildly on Saturday reasons – ending jinx by beating Chemelil, posting victory as James Nandwa started his reign and sailing through to the quarter-finals of the GOtv Shield Cup at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Chemelil looked dangerous from the word go, putting Leopards on the backfoot. They forced the first corner of the match inside the first minute.

Ingwe winger Paul Were was at horn in Chemelil defense and kept them quite busy by sending dangerous crosses to the teams forward line.

In the eighth minute, Martin Imbalambala missed by a whisker from putting Leopards’ ahead but shot wide. Then five minutes later, Jared Obwoge was caught off-side on his way to putting the sugar millers ahead.

At the 20th minute mark, Allan Wanga appeared to have put Leopards’ ahead after connecting a Paul Were cross but the match referee ruled that the ball had gone out.

Then Chemelil survived two attempts. First Abdalla Juma’s shot was blocked and then Wanga headed wide with plenty of space to score as his effort flew wide. Inside the half hour mark, Were sent in another of his fantastic crosses which Chemelil goalkeeper missed but was quickly cleared.

Second half substitute Dan Wagaluka was cautioned a few minutes after coming onto the pitch for dangerous play but it still did not slow down Leopards, who were determined to register victory.
