Kakamega strolled into their fifth national victory beating Maseno School 15-10 in a breathtaking match.
Alex Musee opened the floodgates for Kakamega on the 12th minute as he squeezed past Maseno’s defence to touch down for a 5-0 lead.
Mike Mulugu scored another try while Brian Alukwe of Maseno pulled three points back with a penalty for 10-3 at half time.
Warren Nyanjom made a try for Maseno as Brian Alukwe better known as “Papa” converted it to put his side on level terms.
After the buzzer, Alvin Otieno made a try that helped them escape sudden death rounds, which prolonged Maseno’s 19-year-old drought for national rugby 15s title.
Kakamega’s Farmi Idriss crowned it all with the man-of-the-match honour. Kangaru of Eastern suffered a 3-10 loss at the hands of Mangu High in the runner-ups.
