Kakamega strolled into their
fifth national victory beating
Maseno School 15-10 in a
breathtaking match.
Alex Musee opened the floodgates
for Kakamega on the 12th minute
as he squeezed past Maseno’s
defence to touch down for a 5-0
lead.
Mike Mulugu scored another try
while Brian Alukwe of Maseno
pulled three points back with a
penalty for 10-3 at half time.
Warren Nyanjom made a try for
Maseno as Brian Alukwe better
known as “Papa” converted it to
put his side on level terms.
After the buzzer, Alvin Otieno
made a try that helped them
escape sudden death rounds,
which prolonged Maseno’s
19-year-old drought for national
rugby 15s title.
Kakamega’s Farmi Idriss crowned
it all with the man-of-the-match
honour. Kangaru of Eastern
suffered a 3-10 loss at the
hands of Mangu High in the
runner-ups.
