They were boosted by new signings Jerry Imbo and Maurice Ochieng plus regulars like Andrew Obunga, Allan Thigo and James Ogolla &#8220;Kadir&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Allan Thigo was a player and also head coach. On their way they beat Uganda champions Express FC 2-1 before beating Somalia champions MBC 1-0. In the semi-finals, Luo Union beat Tanzanian champions Mseto Sports 5-0, to set up an epic final against defending champions, Young Africans of Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>The final was played in front of 20,000 fans at Mombasa municipal stadium. Yanga took an early lead, scoring after 5 minutes. s then Luo Union fought back. On the stroke of half time, overlapping defender Sospeter Otin sent in a long ball into the Yanga penalty area which striker Charles Ochieng volleyed into the net. William \u201cChege\u201d Ouma scored the winner, after a pass from Fred Siranga.
