World half marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei, had a dream debut to her marathon career. On Sunday November 3 2019, she won the New York Marathon. Her time of 2:22:31 was just 7 seconds off the course record set by compatriot Margaret Okayo in 2003. It was an emphatic win for Jepkosgei who won by a whopping 53 seconds. Keitany and Jepkosgei were neck and neck until mile 23 when Jepkosgei picked up the pace. Keitany had no answer.<\/p>\n

Jepkosgei set the world half marathon record in 2017. So a lot was expected from her in the full distance. But she postponed her debut a number of times.<\/p>\n
