Obiri sets new Kenya 5000m record

Olympic Silver medalist Hellen Obiri, who only switched to the 5000m last season, set a New Kenya record in 14:18.37 . It is the fastest time in the world since 2015 and it makes Obiri the fifth fastest woman in history over the 5000m

“I train with men,” she says. “We have a lot of groups in Kenya, but I like to train with men because they’re good to push hard.”

And Obiri did it all by herself. Genzebe Dibaba who was expected to push the pace, did not challenge Obiri.
