Flying start for AFC Leopards in CAF cup

Marauding winger Paul Were was the toast of the afternoon when he set up both goals as AFC Leopards beat visiting Defense Forces of Ethiopia in the preliminary round first leg of the CAF Confederations cup.

The first goal came via Martin Imbalambala who headed home a cross from Were. New signing Jacob Keli scored the second goal in the 44th minute when he tapped home the ball following another cross from Were. It was a good start for Keli who was playing in his first competitive game for Ingwe.

Missing from the line-up was Allan Wanga who is out for three weeks with an injury. In his place was Oscar Kadenge and Edwin Seda who missed several chances. Leopards would have won by a larger margin.

Coach James Nandwa was happy with the result. “This result puts us in a good position. We have some work to do because its only halftime. But I am confident we will qualify,” he told the Nation
